The Spiritual Dimension of Medical Practice is a peculiar and unique book, a trail blazer as it appears hitherto to be the only book with this title in Medical Literature. It arose out of Divine prompting and directive viz. At a certain period in my medical practice of several years, I observed I was beginning to have an increasing number of medical cases with spiritual complications. In each case when I prayed and invoked the help and power of the Holy Spirit as a believer, the problem was solved. Interestingly they failed to respond when only standard medical treatment modality was employed. I shared these experiences with close medical colleagues, pastors, other religious workers and believers in Christ. They advised I put it in writing for the benefit of others but I was not persuaded to do so. The experience continued unabated for several years until one day God spoke to me to write a book with the title, The Spiritual Dimension of Medical Practice. I had to bow to the wishes of God Almighty.

Sir/Dr. Godson Chimuanya Nwaogu’s journey on this earth began on April 18, 1942. His educational prowess manifested early, maintaining first position and entrance scholarship from his primary to secondary education. His academic journey continued, culminating in degrees from the University of Ibadan and specialized studies in Obstetrics and Gynecology in the United Kingdom. He has the following qualifications: MB, BS (Ibadan), MRCOG (London), FICS, FWACS, FIIA.
Professional Odyssey
Embarking on a career that blended medical expertise with administrative acumen, Sir/Dr. Nwaogu served as a Junior Science Teacher and underwent Housemanship at U.C.H. Ibadan. His dedication led to promotions, working across various hospitals in the United Kingdom, and eventually returning to Nigeria in 1982. Notable roles included Chief Consultant positions at two major General Hospitals in Imo State, Nigeria, marked by transformative achievements and commendations.
Contributions to Healthcare
The impact of Sir/Dr. Nwaogu’s medical prowess extended beyond Nigeria. His role as Chief Consultant/Medical Director at FAZAL Hospital Aba showcased effective administration. Later, he became a Senior Lecturer at Abia State University, Nigeria and founded Best Care Specialist Hospital and Maternity in 2005. With almost five decades of experience, his commitment to healthcare excellence remained unwavering.
Achievements and Service
Beyond medicine, Sir/Dr. Nwaogu adorned several hats: sports enthusiast, college prefect, and Chairman of the St. John’s Ambulance Council. He received accolades such as the Millennium Award of Excellence (2000) and the Nigeria Medical Association Abia State Merit Award (2005). His leadership extended to various organizations, including FGBMFI Aba chapter and Total Health Organization Incorporated.
